ok, so i've spent an hour of my day messing around with my dad's laptop trying to get the damn thing to print over the network.

some of the problems are just normal Windows niggles... it won't remember the username+password combo for the print server machine for example...

but the main problem is the wireless networking... which just seems to have been programmed to be as stupid is it possibly can be... for example, it will be connected when the user logs into Windows, and its connected long enough for Live Messenger to connect, it then drops the connection for some reason and takes 5 minutes to re-establish it 'automatically'... in the intervening time, attempting to manually connect will fail...

and it seems to be less numpy-ish if you're logging on post-reboot, rather than post-logoff...

and since I had to go through and, first come up with a way to make it pop up a 'log in to print server' box at logon, second, test it, and third, show father how to use this... all with logoffs in between to get 'un-logged in'...

lets just say FRUSTRATION!!
